Street-Level Travel Guides — 2026
BOGOTÁ
Mapped at street level. Every mural, every arepa, every shortcut.
Pick Your Days
Stop-by-stop plans with real prices, honest time estimates, and backup options for when it rains (it will).
Know Your Barrios
Bogota is a city of neighborhoods. Each one has its own personality, safety profile, and reasons to visit.
La Candelaria
Historic · Street art · Backpacker
The colonial heart of Bogota. Cobblestone streets covered in world-class murals, the Gold Museum, and Botero's permanent collection — all walkable.
Chapinero
Foodie · LGBTQ+ · Nightlife
Bogota's most progressive neighborhood. Craft coffee by day, mezcal bars by night. The best restaurants in the city cluster around Zona G.
Usaquén
Upscale · Markets · Brunch
A former colonial town swallowed by the city. Sunday flea market is unmissable. Tree-lined streets, good brunch spots, and the safest feel in Bogota.
Zona G
Gastronomy · Fine dining · Date night
The gourmet zone. Colombia's best chefs operate here. From modern Colombian tasting menus to Japanese-Andean fusion. Not cheap, always worth it.
Teusaquillo
Art deco · Local · Residential
Where bogotanos actually live. Beautiful art-deco architecture, Simón Bolívar Park, and the kind of corner bakeries that don't have English menus.

The Practical Stuff
Safety
Stick to tourist zones and ride apps (Uber/InDrive/DiDi). Avoid flashing phones on the street. La Candelaria is fine by day, sketchy after dark.
Transport
TransMilenio is the bus rapid transit (~2,950 COP/$0.70 per ride). Uber and InDrive are cheap ($2-8 across town). No metro yet — it's under construction.
Altitude
Bogota sits at 2,640m. Take it easy on day one — skip alcohol, hydrate, walk slowly. Most people adjust within 24-48 hours.
SIM Card
Buy a Claro or Movistar SIM at the airport ($5-10 for 10GB). You'll need it for ride apps and Google Maps offline.
Language
Spanish is essential outside tourist spots. Download Google Translate offline. Bogotano Spanish is considered the clearest in Latin America.
Weather
Eternal spring — 12-18°C year round. Always carry a light jacket. Rain is common, especially April-May and October-November.
